Civic Society Comments on Shopfront Renovation at 3 Boulevard

This application follows on from a previously withdrawn application to convert this former Estate Agents into flats. The new application is to add a single (front) door, which from the plan, will allow access with internal modification to an inside stair case to upper floors which probably will then be converted in to accommodation. Although this would be in line with the council’s plans for more residential accommodation above retail premises.The concern is that his should not be a stepwise approach to achieve the original aim and the ground floor should be maintained as an office or retial unit unless any such conversion should in keeping with its the Victorian roots.
