Civic Society Objects to a 'House in Multiple Occupancy'

Submitted on 01 February 2016

The Civic Society has objected to a planning application to change a Guest House at 49 Walliscote Road into a House in Multiple Occupancy (16/P0140/F). The plan was to include 11 bedrooms. Local ward councillors were copied and Mike Bell responded that it is likely that officers will recommend refusal.

It was thought that not only does the proposal counter North Somerset Council’s policy in principle, but housing officials were not satisfied that the proposed scheme meets the minimum space/facility requirements for a licensed HMO.

However if it was recommended for approval, he would seek to bring the application before the Planning and Regulatory Committee for debate and decision by councillors.

Subsequently planning permission was refused.
