2024 Submissions - to be updated

In April a wooden fence was erected above a stone wall in Clevedon Road. North Somerset Council are seeking voluntary removal.

Also in April fences were erected at the rear of 2 properties in Spring Valley fronting Spring Hill. Planning permission was not granted and both cases have gone to appeal.

In June two instances of advertising on residential properties in Meadow Street and Orchard Street were reported. North Somerset Council contacted the owners and they were removed.

In July an advertisement glued on the side of the pedestrian footbridge across the railway on Broadway was reported. This was removed.

In September the Society reported a banner advertisement on the barriers at the junction of Sunnyside Road and Drove Road. This was removed by North Somerset Council.

In October the Society submitted an objection to the installation of a shed in the front garden and a large banner advertisement on the boundary wall of 39 Charlton Road. See here. The response from North Somerset Council was:

A breach of planning control was identified, which matched what was reported, however the structure is a very minor form of development with no degree of permanence. It has been assessed for harm and the Council does not need to control it. And: The advert benefits from Deemed Consent and does not require the Council’s permission.

Also in October an objection was submitted for the application to convert the London Inn into a five storey building with a pub, retail space and 22 flats above. The proposal, fronting the High Street, is bland, uninspiring and oversized. (24/P/1642/FUL)

In November an objection was submitted for alterations to the ground floor of the Premier Inn. We said 'The Society strongly objects to the application due to the down grading effect it will have on the Town’s environment.' We agreed with the comments made by the North Somerset Council Urban Design Officer. Details here. (24/P/2124/FUL)
